Clear tennis data, with its limits visible.
Tennis Foresight is an independent tennis match centre for ATP, WTA and Challenger tennis, built in Finland for an English-speaking audience. It combines a match archive, player statistics and our own match model, and it publishes how well that model has done.
What you can explore
- Upcoming matches with our win probabilities, recent form, head-to-head records, weather at the venue and set and game estimates.
- Player pages for every ATP, WTA and Challenger player in our archive: record, serve and return statistics, hold and break, splits by surface and level, a playing style profile and how they have handled break points, tiebreaks and deciding sets.
- Player comparison of any two players by period and surface.
- Tournaments: draws, a court pace index and serve and return statistics for each event.
- Results with set scores and match statistics, and a public track record of our estimates.
Where the data comes from
- Matches, scores, statistics and rankings: API Tennis. Our archive holds results from 2021 onwards and point statistics (serve points, aces, break points) for most matches of recent seasons.
- Weather: forecasts from Open-Meteo and past observations from Meteostat (both CC BY 4.0) for each venue.
- Bookmaker prices (not shown in Finland) are collected to compare our estimates with the market.
Update rhythm: results, upcoming matches, estimates and player pages are refreshed every hour; prices every 15 minutes; the model is refitted every morning. Each page shows the date its data runs to.
How the estimates are made
The estimates come from our own statistical model, developed and tested in-house. It is refitted every morning, and a change to it is adopted only after it has proved more accurate on earlier matches. The prices for the match being estimated are never used.
The match page also shows set score, set handicap, total games and game handicap chances, kept consistent with the win probability. An estimate is published only after the pairing, surface and match format have been checked; missing information means no estimate.
How we check it
The track record has two parts: a walk-forward backtest from July 2024 (each estimate made only with data that existed before the match, refitted as time moves on) and a live record of every estimate published since October 2026. Both show accuracy, calibration and sample sizes by tour, level and surface.
Limits
- A probability describes uncertainty. A 70% favourite loses about three times in ten.
- On average, the closing prices of the sharpest bookmakers have been more accurate than our model. We show this openly instead of claiming an edge.
- Playing styles, records in different conditions and pressure records are background for readers and are not part of the estimates.
- Statistics depend on the data provider; unforced errors and net points are a scorer's judgement and vary between tournaments.
